Ape Index climbers got outside last Saturday to enjoy our amazing weather and CRUSH some rocks!
Icecapades is located about 2 miles to the southeast of The Ice Castles. The rock is sharp quartz monzonite similar to the rock at Beardsley Boulders and Pinnacle Peak. The area most likely hasn’t been tapped out as there are several hundred boulders in the area. Boldering and trad climbing here are popular. We heard there is a sports bolt out here but we did not go back that far. There are over 100 climbs for all levels of climber. Get beta on the site here.
The team had a blast. We brought first time outdoor climber Lili with us and she topped out a couple of routes too! Nice Lili! Veteran climbers helped newer climbers with technique and beta while demonstrating the skills we are all working toward.
Safety is always our first concern so we had plenty of boulder pads, spotters and great communication. While we may be a bit battered by the rock, it was great to CRUSH together!
